Greetings or maybe I should say
howdy Partner!
Let me take this
opportunity to introduce you to myself and DeadFish Productions. My name
is Kip Shelton. I’m President and CEO of DeadFish Productions. We are an
independent film and television company that prides itself on releasing
quality, digital films and television series that are not only
profitable, but also emotionally captivating and exciting to watch.
We have recently begun the
preproduction on an exciting new television series, Joshua’s Road.
Created and developed by myself and Mr. Wan Marks, the series follows
the adventures of Joshua Cross, a young, black, Union soldier and spy at
the close of the Civil War. On April 9th 1865, as Robert E.
Lee prepares to surrender to General Grant, Joshua, and his partner
George, are summoned to the home of Senator Benjamin Knight. Joshua is
told by the Senator that his wife became a spy for the Union shortly
after Joshua left his home. Now, at the close of the war, a desperate
southern Senator has taken Joshua's wife further south and hopes to
rebuild a new confederate army. Joshua and George, with the help of
Senator Knight and Taylor McCoy, travel across America in search of his
wife who, unknown to Joshua, is pregnant with their first child.
The program follows Joshua and
George as they make their way across the country facing challenges and
victories in the search for his lost love. Part Action / Adventure, part
Romance, part historical drama; this series has everything.
But you're probably asking
yourself; “What does DeadFish Productions want with me?
We are about to begin filming
the pilot episode of Joshua's Road. As with all television programs the
pilot is being funded out of pocket by it's Producer and not the
networks. And, as we are a fledgling company, we have very little
working capitol. What we are doing now is asking different companies and
corporations that reproduce Civil War memorabilia for a donation of
products. We have also approached several period location owners with
the request to use their facilities in filming the pilot for our series.
Several actors have also offered up their time to help achieve the goal
of creating this ground breaking series. Now, as we are about to begin
shooting the pilot episode with virtually no budget, we come to the
reason I have written this letter.
I am writing to see if you would
be interested in becoming involved in our series, “Joshua's Road”. We
have acquired sponsorship and financing from several organizations, but
are still short of our goal. If you feel that you would like to be
involved in this project financially or in a sponsorship, please contact
us. We would appreciate any assistance you can offer. It is our goal to
not only present this series for the historians and lovers of the genre,
but to also add a mixture of real history and authenticity to those not
familiar with how rich and exciting our western heritage really was and
still is today.
